Master's degree in Biology
Course Description:
The biology Department has two MSc. programs: Bioscience and Plant Biology.
MSc. in Bioscience
The Master of Science (MSc) in Bioscience is a comprehensive program designed to provide students with advanced knowledge and skills in biological sciences. The curriculum includes core courses such as Research Methodology, Biostatistics, and Advanced Biochemistry, which provide a solid foundation in research techniques and biochemical principles. Specialized courses like Advanced Molecular Biology, Advanced Hormonal Study, and Advanced Endocrinology delve into specific biological processes, while Biotechnology, Advanced Immunology, and Advanced Haematology explore applications and mechanisms in biotechnology and immunology.
The program also offers flexibility through Special Topics 1 and Special Topics 2, allowing students to explore contemporary issues or emerging areas in bioscience. This combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills prepares graduates for careers in research, academia, industry, or healthcare. The program typically includes a research component, where students apply their knowledge to an original research project, culminating in a dissertation. This hands-on experience equips students with the skills necessary for independent research and professional development in the biosciences field.
2. MSc. in Plant Biology
The Master of Science (MSc) in Plant Biology is a comprehensive program designed to provide students with advanced knowledge and skills in plant biology and related biotechnological applications. The curriculum includes core courses such as Research Methodology, Biostatistics, and Advanced Biochemistry, which provide a solid foundation in research techniques and biochemical principles. Specialized courses like Advanced Molecular Biology, Plant Growth Regulator, and Advanced Plant Ecophysiology delve into specific biological processes and mechanisms in plants. Additionally, Advanced Environmental Pollution Biotechnology and Advanced Plant Pathology explore applications and challenges in environmental sustainability and plant health.
The program also offers flexibility through Special Topics 1 and Special Topics 2, allowing students to explore contemporary issues or emerging areas in plant biology. This combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills prepares graduates for careers in research, academia, industry, or environmental management. The program typically includes a research component, where students apply their knowledge to an original research project, culminating in a dissertation. This hands-on experience equips students with the skills necessary for independent research and professional development in the field of plant biology.
