About:
The Department of Mathematics at Koya University offers an excellent environment to study mathematics and its applications. It is one of six departments making up Faculty of Science and Health. The Department of Mathematics (DMAT) is one of the pillars of the Faculty of Science and Health at Koya University which was founded in the academic year 2005-2006 due to the university's keenness to meet the accelerating needs of the community in various fields. The department of Mathematics aims to produce highly trained and professional Mathematicians that the Kurdistan region very much needs for the development. Our department like the other departments in the faculty is internationally recognized. Five researchers from the department are currently completing their PhD from European and Asian universities and 3 assistant researchers are currently studying MSc (2 from Sulaimaniyah university one from salahaddin University).

Undergraduate programs in the department include both pure and applied mathematics subjects together with updated optional subjects that the industry and market is in need for.

Vision:
The vision of department of mathematics at Koya University is to achieve national and international recognition in research and training students for meeting the challenging needs of industry and society. The department will become the students’ choice in Kurdistan and the region for seeking a high quality academic program with individualized attention in a high learning environment is also another point we want to reach in future.

Mission:
The department of Mathematics challenges its academic staff, researchers working in the department, postgraduate students, undergraduate students and employees to think critically and independently, develop lifelong learning habits, acquire career skills, embrace diversity and become well-known mathematicians in the regional and global community.
